On behalf of H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, H.E. Dr. Saad Al Mehrij, Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, sponsored the Medical Laboratory Technology Training Program (MLTTP) 2nd batch graduation ceremony which was held on Thursday, November 27th, 2014 at Dr. Sameer Bin Huraib Auditorium.

On this occasion, Dr. Saad delivered a speech in which he stressed that the MLTTP which was founded by the Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs within its strategy aims to develop skilled and qualified candidates to relieve the occupational demand in Saudi Arabia. In addition, the program aspires to further support Saudization and self-sufficiency meanwhile strengthen the overall knowledge base and clinical laboratory theoretical/practical skills in the use and operation of specialized laboratory equipment, and familiarize the trainees with the means of occupational safety as well as contribute to the aspirations of developing the quality of laboratory services to provide optimal medical care to patients according to the highest standards.

The graduation ceremony included a speech delivered by Dr. Walid al-Tamimi, the MLTTP director in which he pointed out that the graduates are fully qualified to enroll in the laboratory field in Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs and in the various sectors of the country after receiving a full year sufficient training.

After that, Mr. Mohammed AL Hogail- Executive Director, Corporate Training and Development, explained that this program is the result of a successful cooperation between the Training and Development Department and the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Department, stressing that when the MLTTP was launched in 2012, it included 3 programs, however, the number has now doubled to include 6 Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) accredited programs.

At the end of the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Saad Al Mehrij honored the program’s 23 graduates along with presenting the 2013- 2014 Outstanding Lecturer Award in MLTTP to Dr. Ali Al-Othaim.
