Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs managed to integrate departmental systems and services for an automatic exchange of information in order to complete the tasks on a timely manner. Dozens of medical information systems have been integarted but most prominently, “LEGACY“ in AlMadinah Al Munawwarah, "BESTCare" in King Abdullah Specialized Children’s' Hospital (KASCH), and “QuadraMed” that’s been used and utilized throughout the MNG-HA facilities. In addition to other systems used in King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center, Pathology & Laboratory, Medical Imaging and many more under the supervision of Enterprise Integration Services (EIS).
The number of ports has reached more than "560" ports to exchange tens of millions of information per day in accordance to international standards, and the ability to interconnect any system or medical devices to one another. In addition to an in advance coordination with all the engineers to check the potential of connecting future medical devices. Currently, many systems have been integrated such King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center, Pathology & Laboratory, Medical Imaging and Cardiac Catheterization. The objective is to integrate "80" type of medical devices over the next three years, such devices are used in Intensive Care Unit, Hemodialysis, Blood Gas Analyzer, and other special devices used for the eyes and ears. The difficulty in integrating such systems lies in the huge amount of very precise and sensitive information that are being exchanged in a momentary time that cannot tolerate any interruptions or delays, thus, requiring great efforts and high quality procedures and solutions.
In addition, Enterprise Integration Services (EIS) is keen on information confidentiality, sharing privileges and security, thus developing a clear mechanism for information disclosure for those who are eligiable, information exchange and setting up appropriate agreements before, during and after the exchange of information in addition to finding solutions for some of the programs that are difficult to integrate or control.
Equally important, the EIS did not neglect the community and eServices through integrating MNG-HA to other intergovernmental organizations, such King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, Security Forces Hospital, Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City, and King Fahd Medical City through www.saudi.gov.sa.
Last but not least, among the projects that are semi-completed is the Premarital Screening Program, which will be integrated between MNG-HA and the Ministry of Health, to be the first government health facility that will electronically exchange information.
