Bone Marrow Transplant Program in PNOC Has Achieved Treating Over 153 Cases Since Opening
Bone Marrow Transplant Program in Princess Noorah Oncology Center has achieved over 153 bone marrow transplant operations since it was launched in 2014. Such procedures include graft types of both Autologous and Allogenic performed for patients with certain cancers of the blood or bone marrow along with other related blood diseases. Moreover, these procedures involve several stages where the timelines play the major part in the overall treatment. It begins with collecting stem cells, transplant treatment, stem cell transfusion, until recovery. Dr. Ahmed Alsaeed, Head of BMTP says that the program has brought hope for all those who diagnosed with blood diseases or cancers, and it continues to develop more methods of delivering such treatments. He added that the program will start a day case plan this year, and also implemented another type of transplant which is Allogeneic Transplants Using Haploidentical (Half-Matched) Donors.
