King Abdulaziz Medical City – Jeddah Celebrates World Mental Health Day 10 October 2022
Based on the keenness of the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs to support and care for health cadres, and as part of the activities of the Nursing Wellbeing Program, which aims to maintain the mental health of nursing and improve their performance.
The Department of Nursing Education at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Jeddah is celebrating World Mental Health Day 2022 on Monday, October 10, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Education and the champion of the Nursing Wellbeing Program in the Western Region, Dr. Elham Ali Bukhari, in cooperation with the members of the Nursing Wellbeing Program, and participation of the Social Services Department, the Clinical Nutrition Department, Rehabilitation Department, Primary Health Care Center and Nursing College.
The World Day aims to spread awareness of mental health issues and enhance efforts to support the mental health of nursing, patients, their families in particular and all health care providers, under the slogan "Making mental health and well-being for all a global priority".
As the COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on the mental health of the community, which has affected some groups psychologically and socially, including health care workers, especially nursing staff, as they are the front line defense, the World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledged through the meeting held in May 2021 the upgrading and diversity of mental health services at all levels and the invention of new and modern ways of providing mental health care to its communities.
Therefore, by celebrating this day, the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs is keen to make a new start and an inspiring vision to make mental health and the well-being of community members and nursing staff a high value priority. The celebration will include several activities provided by the participating departments that focus on the mental health of the individual and his ability to care for himself and others alike.
