ISID/Clinical Information Management Systems Department
Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, NGHA Chief Executive Officer, announced the successful implementation of the Hospital Information System: Computerized Patient Records (CPR) and the first stage of the Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) in the National Guard Health Affairs (NGHA) Western Region Facility, King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah and the registration for its Primary Health Care Center.
The magnitude of this project and its success is a sheer reflection of the excellent leadership from the Western Region Executive Management, Information Systems & Informatics Division (ISID) along with the Project Stakeholders, Western Region Department Heads, and Department nominated super-users and end-users, guided by the Project Management & implementation team from the Clinical Information Management System-ISID, with the support of ISID departments, DataCenter, CMII, and ISD-WR. Their commitment, cooperation, teamwork, and early involvement in all the project events, activities, and milestones are the main factors in the project’s success and their effort is highly recognized.
An NGHA target was migrating individual patient electronic record system within NGHA facilities, Kingdom wide, and thus having single access to patient clinical data. This project assures the continuity of patient care and patient follow up in all NGHA facilities. Patient clinical data from various hospital departments and PACS images can be viewed through the new system by accessing the patient single electronic chart anywhere throughout the regions. This system will provide an efficient and instant service which will benefit the organizations Physicians and other caregivers to provide the best patient care.
An individual patient electronic record system is recognized as another achievement for the NGHA after receiving "Arab Health Award" last year during the Arab Health conference held in the United Arab Emirates
