ALSO Congratulates the efforts of KAMC

The Postgraduate Training Center announced that the Vice Chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians is visiting the National Guard Health Affairs from May 16 2009 until May 21, 2009.
Along with ALSO instructor classes, there will be a presentation of the growth of ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics) within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh is the only licensed organization for conducting ALSO within the Kingdom.
Owned by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics course originated in the USA in 1991, and is designed to assist health professionals develop and maintain the knowledge and practical skills to manage emergencies that may arise in maternity care.
Additionally, in comparison with the world ALSO Programs, KAMC has shown a tremendous growth within a short period of time in training 567 Providers and 140 Instructors since May 2007 in the Kingdom, Bahrain and Syria. Consequently, Diana Winslow RN, BSN, Manager of the ALSO® Program of the American Academy of Family Physicians, sent a letter of appreciation to Dr. Bander Al- Knawy. She congratulated the efforts of KAMC in promoting the ideals presented by ALSO and encouraged the organization to expand efforts in assisting others in the Middle East in implementing programs outside the Kingdom such as Syria and Yemen.
