
On Tuesday the 12th of May 2009, King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) in King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences signed an understanding agreement with the University of Geneva to collaborate in the field of bio and medical informatics.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) stated to exchange experiences and knowledge with the University of Geneva. One of the most important goals in the KAIMRC Strategic Plan is for it to be a vital database. This strategic step is not only directed at obtaining more expertise and knowledge, but also to facilitate access for researchers from the Arab region to the databases.
It will also seek to preserve the most up-to-date copies of the database in case the lines of communication abruptly break. The MOU also included training programs and the exchange of faculty and students between the two universities.
It should be noted that the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) is hosting a group of vital databases that researchers continuously use and is considered one of the most important world centers in this field.
Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Guard Health Affairs and the President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences signed the agreement with the Deputy General Director of the University of Geneva. In the presence of the NGHA COO, the deans of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, the delegation members and the accompanied delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education.
