Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs (MNG-HA) participated in the American Heart Association (AHA) conference that was held in Chicago, United States of America at its fifty-sixth session from the 2nd till the 4th of April 2016, known as the world's largest heart disease conference, as it received this year more than 19,000 participants from 110 different countries.
Moreover, Dr. Mohammed Balghith, an Assistant Professor at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), a Consultant in Adult Cardiology, KAMC-R was the head of the joint scientific session between The Saudi Heart Association (SHA) and the Irish Heart Foundation with the participant of Professor Robert Gighton, American Cardiology Surgeon, and Dr. Kenneth Macdonald, Irish Cardiology Surgeon, in which new Mitral Valve Regurgitation diagnostic and treatment methods were discussed .
In the symposium, Dr. Ahmed Omran, Section Head Echocardiography, KAMC, MNG-HA, presented a worksheet about the diagnosis and treatment of Mitral Valve regurgitation and leaks, as well as presenting a number of cases that have been treated via catheters and others by Mitral Valve repair at King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center. The worksheet has attracted the participants’ high approbation towards level of advancements that the medical services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reached in keeping up with modern medicine worldwide. In addition, another worksheet has been presented by Dr. Mostafa Al-Shamiri, Cardiology Consultant at King Khalid University Hospital, followed by an open discussion and a scientific Q&A, where participants exchanged scientific expertise between the two countries.
