
The Pharmacy Department at King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al-Ahsa and Academic Affairs, has organized and hosted the "3rd Pharmacy Day", which was inaugurated by the Regional Executive Director of National Guard Health Affairs - Eastern Region, Dr Ahmad Al Arfaj, and he pointed out "the importance of this day lies in discussing the major developments in the world of pharmacy that is directly linked to all medical specialties.”
He said, "The large number of the participants, which exceeded 200 participants from inside and outside the National Guard Health Affairs proves the importance of this event which is held for the third year in a row, and discusses the most important developments in this field that is constantly updated.”
Furthermore, this day addressed important topics in this field, notably safety in the use of medicines, Evidence Based Medicine, the search for evidence and medicine, an introduction to drug therapy, as well as the concept of statistics in pharmacy, updated antibiotic treatments and optimal use of anticoagulants.
A scientific paper under the title" The safe use of drugs during pregnancy, asthma treatments in outpatient clinics, drugs side-effects, and nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy treatment” was presented.
Finally, this event included several workshops that focused on Evidence Based Medicine and scientific research methods. On the other hand, the speakers stressed out that "the world of medications is not constant and needs such events that reveal these rapid developments.
