H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy patronized the launching of Anesthesia Campaign at King Abdulaziz Medical City-Jeddah.
This campaign has been hold under the slogan “We Care “ to reflect the anesthesiologists approach to educate people about the importance of the anesthesiologists and his job. The anesthesiologists accompanied the patient starting from preparing the patient for the surgery which needs time to insure the patient safety and readiness before surgery until the patient leaves the recovery room. Sometimes the anesthesiologists follow the patient’s condition in the ward to insure the patient wellness.
Head of the organizing committee of the campaign Dr. Haifa Kayal pointed out that the campaign has been held for three years to educate the society about the importance of anesthesia, on its third session, it aims to explain how to prepare the patient before surgery and anesthesia, the basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and respiration. This campaign targets patients, visitors, medical students, internship year students and related disciplines Physicians. This campaign coinciding with the World Day of Anesthesia.
Dr. Haifa Kayal also pointed out that anesthesia is considered a significant health science which is helpful to many branches of medicine such as: General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatric Surgery. Anesthesiologists also provide services to interventional and therapeutic radiotherapy in addition to specializing in acute and chronic pain treatments. Anesthesia has been developed a lot starting from qualifying doctors with accurate educational programs presented by cadres who are qualified to use state-of-the-art hardware and technologies.
It is worth mentioning that KAMC, Jeddah has organized the first campaign on 2016 under the slogan “Towards safe Anesthesia” that aims to dispelling fears from anesthesia and to introduce anesthesiologists job in addition to changing some misconceptions about anesthesia. The second campaign hold the slogan “post- anesthesia recovery”.
