The activities of the 8th Annual International Breast Cancer Conference were concluded on Saturday, the 22nd of October 2016 with the presence of Dr. Mansour Al Jundi, Executive Director of Medical Services, Western Region.
This conference targeted physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, radiology technicians and nurses. It is considered one of the largest conferences held in the Middle East, attracting around 1500 attendees and a number of experienced and well known speakers in the field of Oncology.
Moreover, the conference discussed the latest updates in treatment and diagnosis of breast cancer, enhancing medical cooperation between Saudi physicians and international physicians in the field of treating cancer patients, strengthening ties among physicians who are specialized in cancer treatment. Also, it focused on unifying treatment methods between physicians in the Kingdome of Saudi Arabia and in the developed countries as well strengthening relations with researchers to obtain the best results.
In addition, a number of workshops were held in which the participants discussed the latest updates in clinical trials for breast cancer which facilitates treatment methods, pros and cons of the mammogram, using the latest medications with the hormone therapy in advanced stages breast cancer treatments, the importance of the immune system in resisting cancer, future treatments for Triple Negative Breast Cancer and the role of using modern imaging(Ultrasound, CT, MRI) in the diagnosis and follow-ups.
Also,the conference recommended the importance of early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer in order to increase the recovery chances and reduce advanced cancer cases as well as the importance of coordinating between primary healthcare centers and specialized centers in the case of transferring patients to get medical care in a timely manner. Also, the conference recommended assisting the conduct of local medical research as it differs from the international studies.
Last but not least, Dr. Mansour Al Jundi, honored the participants, comissions and organizers.
