The Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, the Department of Respiratory Therapy at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences – Al Ahsa, and in collaboration with the Department of Respiratory Therapy in King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al Ahsa, Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs held an asthma awareness Exhibition under the auspices of the Regional Executive Director of the MNG-HA in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj, who pointed out that "the disease is significantly active in winter, thus holding this Exhibition, which included a range of activities and programs covered by the exhibition".
According to the organizing committee, the exhibition goal was to spread awareness amongst the visitors, staff and patients, on the importance of the preventive measures, how to deal with such disease, and its repeated attacks", through 2 corners, one was allocated for asthma symptoms, and the 2nd is for the diagnosis, treatment and the correct way to take and use medications.
The organizing committee admired the large numbers of visitors while stressing "the need to increase awareness in regards to detecting asthma symptoms of the disease, the correct way of using its medications, as most patients are unaware of how to properly use the inhaler, what makes the effectiveness of the drug non-existent ".
In addition, participants underwent a test to measure the effect of an asthma inhaler before eating and after, as well as the distribution of awareness pamphlets highlighting key information that must be followed by the patient. The organizing committee also stressed the importance of the patient undergoing a practical training session in the clinic before and after receiving the asthma medication, and the doctor and the nursing staff should make sure that the patient is able to use the medication correctly.
