The National Guard Health Affairs in the eastern province conducted an asthma awareness day in the primary health care unit. On this occasion, they set up an exhibition for two days which was attended by more than 350 people. The first day was for males and the second was for the females and had the participation of the Ministry of Health which was represented by the Health Affairs of the Eastern Province.
The Regional Executive Director of the NGHA in the Eastern Province Dr. Ahmed Alarfj said: “This awareness campaign follows previous campaigns about World Asthma Day. The National Guard Health Affairs had a special stand for asthma devices. It also had publications, flyers and books that dealt with the latest developments in regards to asthma and its cure.”
Dr. Ahmed Alarfj expressed his delight in the large number of attendees from families and school students and commented that their presence reflects how important this event was as a lot of people have asthma and need special care.
The Ministry of Health defined asthma, its devices, prevention and irritants, while the NGHA dealt with several aspects of treatments and the side affects of overdosing.
Dr. Ahmed Al Shuaibi, the Deputy Executive Regional Director of Medical Services in the NGHA Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital launched the ceremony activities and confirmed that the events were successful and that they were able providing free medical consultation to attendees over the two days. He said: “Our goal is to provide services for the patients and their families to help them cope with and overcome this disease. We managed to achieve this goal."
The Deputy Executive Regional Director of Operations Dr. Ibrahim Al- Jamaan pointed out that the exhibition took part in the successful World Asthma Day which was organized by the Ministry of Health in Al-Rashid Mall- Khobar. He said: “This encouraged us to hold the exhibition within the health care unit in Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital. What really drew our attention was the great need for more information about this disease especially for families.”
Dr. Ibrahim Al- Jamaan commented that the great cooperation and communications between them and the Ministry of Health produced these activities. “We have common goals and objectives; I must thank everyone who made this success possible.”
