Four days after the successful separation of the Bahraini conjoined twins, the surviving twin, Zahra is doing remarkably well. A separation was done immediately after birth as an Exit Procedure, in order to save the healthy twin Zahra. Unfortunately, the other twin did not to survive, as expected, due to major abnormalities and complications of the brain, heart and lungs.
The surviving twin, Zahra, is stable and breathing normally since being taken off the artificial respirator. Her vital organs are functioning well and there are no signs of major problems or complications.
Zahra is expected to start milk feeding within a few days and for the first time in her life was held by her mother who was overjoyed with this moment.
The parents are extremely thankful to The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his kindness and generosity, as well as,to the Head of the Multidisciplinary Team, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and the attending Medical Team.
