A medical team from the Department of Urology at King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al Ahsa, Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, performed the first bladder nerves stimulation implant, under the supervision of Consultant Urologist Dr. Mohammed Sammour and with the participation of Prof. Staffan de from Belgium.
The Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj, explained that "this procedure, which was performed for the first time, is considered one of the advanced and important procedures worldwide, a medical milestone".
"This accomplishment will be added to MNG-HA’s list of achievements and it represents the unlimited and continuous support for the medical and health sector in our beloved Kingdom".
For his part, Consultant Urologist Dr. Mohammed Sammour said that:" the procedure was conducted on two patients who suffers from severe urinary incontinence, which affected their normal lifestyle. One patient also suffered from an overactive urinary bladder and the other suffered from bladder weakness". Dr. Sammour also added: "Both procedures were successful, and both patients were checked out the following day”.
Additionally, Dr. Sammour pointed out that this modern and up-t-date procedure is carried out only in a few specialized centers around the world," adding, "based on the vision of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, and its commitment to provide optimal healthcare services, conducting such procedure was carried out in collaboration with the latest international health centers in the world".
