An integrated building allocated for the Blood Bank receives 205 donors a day
The Blood Bank in King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al Ahsa honored 64 blood platelets donor during the annual ceremony, which is held to commend the efforts made by the Blood Bank staff members and to pay tribute to those who regularly donates blood platelets. The Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj said that this honoring ceremony represents our duty to those donors who do not expect anything back, as an expression of our gratitude towards them”.
Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj added: “on this occasion, we are preparing to inaugurate a fully equipped blood bank building with an estimated capacity of up to 250 donors a day, a building that will contribute in expanding this humanitarian project, and on behalf of all MNG-HA’s staff, I would like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to those who donates regularly, and may Allah grant them health and reward’.
Laboratories official at King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al-Ahsa Mr. Ibrahim Al Shahrani said that "there are some operations that cannot be performed without enough platelets to begin with, and such donation directly contributes in the treatment of patients and even saves lives. He added, the MNG-HA set up several strategic plans for the development of blood transfusion services, notably its commitment to the development of state of the art blood transfusion services, as well as to ensure upholding high quality in accordance to international standards.
He further explained that " MNG-HA was keen on creating a culture supporting of voluntary donation of blood and platelets amongst the community, which is a responsibility should be held by each and every one of us. In 2012, the number of donors were about 436 donors, and 521 donors in the year 2013. This number increased to reach 549 donors in 2014, which is a testimonial of this project’s success.
