King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah will host the 7th Breast Cancer International Conference next Saturday, November 24th, 2015 in the Intercontinental Hotel- Jeddah. This conference will be organized by Princess Noorah Oncology Center (PNOC) at King Abdulaziz Medical City – MNG-HA and will last for two days, during which participants will discuss many scientific topics in order to unify the efforts towards reaching better healthcare services. Executive Director of Medical Services – Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs - Western Region, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Jundi pointed out that the MNG-HA, through its therapeutic, preventive, academic and research programs, seeks to achieve a unique integration that raise the level of patients service to the highest specialized professional criteria in addition to international standards of medical care. Dr. Jundi also added that this conference is considered one of the largest conferences due to the importance of breast cancer, with the participation of well renowned experts in Oncology worldwide, as it will present an interactive platform between Saudi and international oncologists to cover and review the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
In addition, Dr. Wasil Jastaniah, Consultant and Chairman of Princess Noorah Oncology Center (PNOC) said that this event will shed light on the latest updates in the world of breast cancer, which has become a widespread medical problem, and its related scientific advancements, especially when it comes to the preventive measures. Statistics show that the incidence of breast cancer will increase by 15%, which represents 27% of all women with cancer in general, and that the average age is 48 years old. The distribution of breast cancer stages at diagnosis varies, as stage 1 and 2 make up 31% and 42% for stage 3. Also, health education and awareness amongst women in the community will be one of the most successful methods of treatment.
Moreover, Breast Cancer Consultant and Head of the Scientific Committee Dr. Meteb AlFoheidi pointed out that this Breast Cancer International Conference targets doctors, surgeons, pharmacists, radiologists, and the nursing staff. Being one of the largest conferences in the Middle East, this conference attracts nearly 1,500 attendees with the participation of a group of specialists from the USA, Canada, UK and Italy.
Additionally, the breast cancer awareness campaign activities started on the 11th of October 2015 through a medical exhibition held in King Abdulaziz Medical City – Jeddah, in addition to an awareness event for women which will be held in the Intercontinental Hotel on Friday, October 23rd, 2015 which will cover educational and awareness lectures, along with an open dialogue.
Last but not least, the conference will be accredited with 30 CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
