Training and Development in Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital – Dammam organized a “Breast Cancer Awareness Forum”, which was held at Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Science & Technology Center (Scitech), with the participation of a crowd exceeding 270 participants.
Regional Executive Director of Ministry of National Guard- Health Affairs in the eastern region, Dr. Ahmed Al Arfaj pointed out that:” this forum was held to shed light on this disease, which has become rampant in our society, and many don’t deal with it very seriously, and as a healthcare organization, it is our duty to spread awareness among the community of the seriousness of breast cancer".
Dr. Al Arfaj also added: "one of the most prominent participations was when 2 survivors shared their breast cancer stories and their treatment plans at Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital and how they overcame the disease".
The Director of Training and Development Department at Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital, Colonel Abdullah Snaidi said: " This forum discussed several papers, notably radiation therapy and its associated medications, the magnitude of the dangers of this disease in the community and the low levels of awareness”.
lastly, the forum has covered some vital topics such as increasing awareness in chemotherapy, reducing fatigue and vomiting, minimizing the risks and controlling the side effects of chemo and radiation therapy treatments, in addition to psychological facing this dieses for both the patient and the family.
