King Abdul Aziz Hospital of National Guard Health Affairs - Al-Ahsa held Breast Cancer awareness Day for the 4th time consecutively in cooperation with College of Nursing in Al-Ahsa - King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences which lasted for 2 days, specialized lectures in "advanced methods in early breast cancer detection and available treatments were discussed amongst a large number of medical and health workers.
Activities were launched by the Regional Executive Director of National Guard Health Affairs - Eastern Region, Dr Ahmad Al Arfaj who pointed out:” the importance of this event which targets raising awareness among patients and visitors as well as providing the most recent studies in this field for medical and health workers in all disciplines.
Diagnostic survey of breast cancer was conducted to the National Guard community and targeted females over the age of 40 to be aware of the dangers of this disease and the importance of early detection. Dr.Al Arfaj added: “according to our statistics and follow ups, we found out that infected female patients are at the age of 40 and above, so we focus on this category without forgetting the others.
Furthermore, The activities were divided into 3 specialized awareness lectures and specialized workshops and an awareness exhibition, these events were moved to the Primary Clinics in King Abdulaziz medical City of National Guard - residential city in order to reach the largest audience possible.
Finally, lectures included 10 specialized lectures in which multi-discipline consultants participated in such as: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, plastic surgery, radiation, Cancer and Psychiatry. The Organizing Committee through the Department of Internal Medicine, Oncology, Nursing and academic affairs at King Abdulaziz Hospital aimed to put the foundation stone of completing the medical survey of National Guard members for breast cancer early detection.
