HE Dr. Mansour Al Jundi, the Executive Director of Medical Services - National Guard Health Affairs, Western Region launched the The 6th Middle East Best of CTRC-AACR San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium on Wednesday, January 4th 2012 at Park Hyatt Hotel - Jeddah. The conference was organized by the National Guard Health Affairs in cooperation with the organizing committee of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium  that was held last December in the United States.

Dr. Omalkhair Abualkhair, Chairperson of the Scientific and Organizing Committee, Head of Oncology Department -Adults at King Abdulaziz Medical City - Riyadh said that the goal of the conference is to highlight the most prominent developments and medical research in cancerous breast tumors.

The conference included a full range of medical research studies done on the final results of hormonal and immune treatments and how well the patients responded, updates on chemical and radiation cancer treatments in order to improve the provided health care for cancer patients, and local treatments. The symposium also highlighted and for the first time the mechanism of patients care cost management and the investments that benefit the patients as well as the investing hospital budgets in campaigns that promote cancer prevention and the importance of early cancer detection. The best initiatives that were taken in the Kingdom has been selected to be presented at the 34th San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in San Antonio - United States.

Dr. Mansour al-Qurashi, Associate Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Academic Affairs, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in, Jeddah mentioned that the NGHA organization fully supports medical and health education. He added that this conference is one of the many scientific activities held by the NGHA to provide health care workers with the latest science and technology in the field of breast tumors, which will advance future health care services.

Moreover, the best two research papers were announced,  Dr. Mohammad Shanawany from Egypt and Dr. Walid Al-Tamimi from Saudi Arabia - King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, National Guard.

It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties accredited this conference by 22 CME hours and 13 CME hours from the University of Texas in United States.
