Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital for Health Affairs of the Ministry of National Guard in Madinah, represented by the Department of Nursing Education, held the International Breastfeeding Awareness Week on Thursday, August 1, 2019. With the participation of several departments in the hospital, including the Department of Clinical Nutrition and the Department of Pharmaceutical Care and the Department of L&D, Obstetrics and Neonatal Intensive Care in addition to the pediatric ward. The event aimed to raise awareness and knowledge among patients, visitors and hospital staff of the importance of breastfeeding and to clarify the benefits of breastfeeding for mother and child as well as clarifying the correct way to save breast milk.
The event also included an awareness exhibition held at the entrance of the outpatient clinics, which witnessed a large turnout of visitors, client and staff of the hospital in the presence of Mr. Zaid Al-Zu'bi, Acting/Associate Executive Director of Nursing Services, and a number of department directors in the hospital.The number of attendees of mothers who benefited from this event was 300 mothers.
The exhibition contained several awareness booths in which brochures, educational publications, and gifts were presented to visitors, answering all their queries about breastfeeding and advising them.
