Coinciding with the International Cancer Day, Social Services Department at King Abdullah Specialist Children Hospital organized several activities to raise awareness of cancer risks through prevention, early detection and treatment methods. Several charity organizations, companies and volunteers participated in the activities such as Saudi Cancer Society, Abdullatif Cancer Screening Center, Ministry of Health, students and volunteers from King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and “Smile, you are blessed” group.
The activities were held during two days, a day allocated for adults and another for children. During which, many induction activities has been organized beside presenting pamphlets about each type of cancer.
The activities also included an induction meeting “Cancer: Information and Facts” to educate visitors and cancer patients about cancer, in addition to covering some of the misconceptions about it, along with ways to avoid it and the importance of periodic screening if you have a family history of cancer.
