
Dr.
Issam Alzimaity Deputy Executive Director of Medical Services at
Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, Western Region launched the
activities of the 9th Annual International Breast Cancer Conference on
Saturday 21 October, 2017 which was organized by Princess Noura
Oncology Center at Intercontinental Hotel in Jeddah. The conference
activities started on Friday and lasted for two days. During which, the
participants discussed several science topics in an attempt to collect
the efforts to reach improved health care.
Dr. Mitib Al Fihidi,
Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Breast Tumors Consultant in
Princess Norah Oncology Center, illustrate that this event will shed
light on the latest updates in the world of breast cancer. He mentioned
that breast cancer has become a widespread medical problem, and its
related scientific advancements, especially when it comes to the
preventive measures. According to the latest statistics by the National
Cancer Registry (NCR) in Saudi Arabia for 2016, a percentage of 16%
among Saudis were affected with breast cancer represents 29% of all
women with cancer in general. This statistics considered a huge burden
to the health affairs which makes health education and awareness amongst
women in the community will be one of the most successful methods of
treatment.
Dr. Al Fihidi also pointed out that the 9th Annual
International Breast Cancer Conference targets physicians, pharmacists,
radiology technicians and nurses. It is considered to be one of the
largest conferences in the Middle East, in which it attracts around 2000
attendees and great number of an international pioneers speakers who
have high repetition in the field of Oncology have participated.
The
conference head explain that this conference discussed the chosen
topics in the field of Breast Cancer through 28 scientific session, in
addition to 5 workshops. After that, Dr. Wasil Jastaniah, Consultant and
Chairman of Princess Nourah Oncology Center (PNOC) said that this event
is organized in line with the Beast Cancer Awareness Month, and such
events will shed light on this diseases, its symptoms and early
detection.
Dr. Yasser Faden, Associate Dean, Deanship of
Postgraduate Education at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health
Sciences (KSAU-HS), Jeddah delivered a speech saying that this
conference is one of the most important scientific activities held by
MNG-HA-Jeddah. It aims to provide participants with the latest
technologies of breast cancer treatment.
It is worth mentioning that
the Beast Cancer Awareness Month activates started with the medical
exhibition that held in the 8th of October 2017, at King Abdulaziz
medical City -Jeddah (KAMC). The activities also includes an awareness
day for women that held in the 19th of October 2017, at Intercontinental
Hotel in Jeddah, where an educational and awareness lectures were
presented by the specialists. This conference was accredited with 30 CME
Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
