National Guard Health Affairs Represented by Academic Affairs at Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital - Dammam Held a training course titled "Advanced Cardiac Life Support” at the Officers' Club in King Fahad Residential City. The course speakers were consultants and specialists from Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital- Dammam and King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al Ahsa; and it was accredited with 10 CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) and the attendance exceeded 30 participants.
The Regional Executive Director of National Guard Health Affairs - Eastern Region, Dr Ahmad Al Arfaj noted that the importance of this course lies in the combined set of emergency medical procedures necessary for the treatment of heart failure, strokes and other emergencies that threaten lives and how to implement them accurately.
Furthermore, Dr. Al Arfaj said that upon completing the course, the participant will be familiar with a great deal of medical information, hands-on intensive practical training, and constant practice to master the skills to support advanced cardiac life support, adding that "only qualified healthcare providers are able to provide advanced life support, because it requires clear-cut skills such as opening the airway, performing pulmonary artery catheterization, and the ability to read the electrocardiogram layouts and interpretation, and others".
