Prince Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz Hospital (PMBAH) – Al Madinah represented by Clinical Nutrition Department participated at the Celiac Awareness Campaign that was held last week. The campaign organized by the Maternity Hospital - , Ministry of Health with participation of Prince Abdullah Bin Khalid (Research Chair for Celiac). The campaign objective was to raise awareness among community members about Celiac and the importance of its only treatment which is a gluten-free diet. Gluten is a mixture of proteins existing in wheat grain that interact with the immune system causing Celiac.
Clinical Nutrition Department - PMBAH participated in the campaign by holding several awareness lectures covering its risks and treatment methods in the campaign’s main venue, the Maternity Hospital, in addition to an awareness booth in Al Rashid Mall.
At the end of the campaign, the campaign organizers expressed their appreciation to Prince Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz Hospital, MNG-HA for their participation at the campaign by presenting commemorative plaque received by the Clinical Nutrition Department representatives, Dietitian Mishaal Almalki and Nourah Al Jayar. Meanwhile, a group of Taibah University’s trainees also participated in this event under the supervision of Clinical Nutrition Department.
