The Emergency and Crisis Department in MNG-HA – Jeddah conducted a Code Black Drill to assess adoption during disasters and crises, with the participation of all concerned medical and administrative departments in addition to military police. The drill was dealing with a massive fire in the outpatients clinics, followed by a huge explosion in the oxygen warehouse and then a chemical disaster. The response to this drill was quick and rescue and emergency teams moved to the scene and found out that various injuries resulted from the fire ranging from medium and critical cases.
The alert was received around 9:20 am, where the outpatients clinics 3-floors building was evacuated efficiently and effectively by security teams and military police within 4 minutes, then all entrances were closed until the situation is under control. The event was to dealt with competence in cooperation with internal designated parties in coordination between the command and control center, the Fire Department, and the military police, whereas the ER evacuated and triaged the injured then transported them to the ER.
Executive Director of Medical Services, Western Region, Dr. Mansour Al Jundi, pointed out the importance of such experiment to raise the level of self-awareness, team work and the extent of disaster preparedness for effective response.
At the end of the drill, Dr. Mansour Al Jundi thanked everyone who participated in an effort to raise the level of fast and effective response to such cases.
