H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy and a number officials have attended a meeting which was hosted by King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah in order to honor the efforts made during the Code Black and to explain the mechanism of receiving patients who were transferred. The MNG-HA’s participated within its full capacity with 17 integrated ambulatory medical units, including 10 units in Mina’s field hospital, 4 units were allocated in  King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Jeddah, in addition to 3 ambulatory units from primary healthcare centers. All units have reported to the scene in order to transport the injured, through direct coordination with the Ministry of Health;  the injured were transferred from the Bridge Hospital in Mina, Mina Valley Hospital and Mina Emergency Hospital to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah by a medical team specialized in intensive care and emergency medicine through air ambulance and emergency medical teams. In addition, several doctors from King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah were directed to report to the holy sites to help their colleagues at the Ministry of Health in providing medical care services to the injured.

 
 
Emergency Medical Services Section Head  and ER Specialist at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, Dr. Hani Baroum spoke about the efforts of all the medical staff and reviewed  the stages in which patients were received.  All ambulatory and medical teams rushed to equip the hospital and the Emergency Department to be on standby, the ER entrance was set to triage received cases and wireless communication devices were distributed. In addition, the nursing and the medical staff were allocated in designated places according to plan. After that, the continuous arrival of patients over the period of 6 hours was coordinated; the ER received 102 cases, of which 40 were in serious condition while the stable ones were 62 cases. Moreover, illustrative tables of all cases received by the ER were created,  all cases were triaged and then transferred to the hospital’s inpatients wards or the intensive care unit for receive the required treatment.

 
 
Then, Executive Director of Infection Prevention and Control- MNG-HA, Dr. Hanan Balkhy talked about a newly established training program for infection control and prevention that targets all health care workers, pointing out the importance of integrating this program within the new employees orientation program and integrate with respiratory protection program. Some of the programs goals are:

  • Increase the knowledge levels of anti-infection basic principles

  • Clarify the correct infection control practices

  • Examine the level of efficiency in basic practices in infection control

Last but not least, H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy delivered a speech in which he thanked all those who participated in the Code Black, honored the divisions and all staff members.
