The Safety Department at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Al Ahsa conducted a gas leak detection and extraction drill which according to Dr. Ahmed Al Arfaj, Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs - Eastern Region," this drill coincides with a series of training drills aimed to raise the employees level of efficiency when dealing with accidents and disasters”. This drill covered real-life simulation of Propane gas leak, a highly flammable substance, resulting from damaged gas pipe valves. 

Mr. Jamal Al shaar, Director of Safety Department in KAH- Al Ahsa further explained that “the drill simulated the influence of winds and low areas on this gas leak where any heat source such as a moving car or smoking may cause a disaster."

The Safety Department was informed of a gas smell near the main gas tank; immediately after, a specialist was directed to measure and determine the direction and the extent of the leak. After that, he directly contacted the Fire Protection Services who were straightaway dispatched to the location after informing the Military Police Department to block all traffic ports which lead to the site. The Maintenance Department was informed as well to develop solutions to the gas leak problem.

Mr. Al shaar  noted that this training is the first of its kind in regards to this type of drills, and we are satisfied as an organizing committee with the initial level of participants hoping that through a series of upcoming training drills,  the level of performance will be raised in an effort to reach the target goals
