Mohammad and Amjed, the Jordanian conjoined twins which were successfully separated at King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, returned home to Jordan on 11 May 2010.  The twins were joined at the chest and abdomen and shared a liver.  The successful separation was performed on 29 April 2010, and took just under 7 hours to complete consisting of 6 phases.

Based on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah, the twins accompanied by their parents, arrived on Friday, 23 April 2010, to be separated by the Multidisciplinary Team, headed Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah at King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs.

HE Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team stated that the Medical Team were very happy with the rapid progress of the twins and that they were in stable condition to return to their home country, Jordan, to live a normal life.

Both HE Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team, and HE Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer of National Guard Health Affairs praised the support and generous gesture of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who through his humanitarian actions and compassion has changed so many lives, regardless of nationality or religion.

The father of Mohammad and Amjed expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah for his fatherly gesture and generosity in bringing the twins to Riyadh to have their separation performed at King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs. He also expressed his thanks to HE Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Minister of Health and Head of the Multidisciplinary Team, as well as to HE Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer, NGHA, for the care and attention that the twins received while at the Medical City.

King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs is world renowned for its expertise and experience in the separation of conjoined twins. The Jordanian twins are the 27th successful separation to have taken place in the Kingdom of Humanity.
