King Abdulaziz Hospital -Al-Ahsa conducted a conference regarding the latest developments in common internal medicine diseases. A large number of consultants, specialists and workers within the department of medicine divisions participated in this conference.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NGHA and the President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, said that this conference was really important because it discussed a number of specialized papers in the field of internal medicine.
He also pointed out that they had discussed the latest developments in the fields of internal medicine and said that “This was the fourth consecutive conference and had proved successful, coming out with positive results."
The Regional Executive Director of the National Guard Health Affairs in the Eastern province Dr. Ahmed Alarfj confirmed the success of these events which was held for two days had included lectures and practical workshops to find solutions for clinical problems.
The head of the internal medicine department and the organizing committee Dr. Hani Mustafa said: “The conference dealt with ten fields: endocrinology, hematology, tumors, intestines, liver, contagious diseases and cardiology. The Saudi Council for Health Specialties had accredited the participants with 11 CME hours and the registration fee was only 50SR.” He also mentioned that a number of papers were presented, discussing this year’s latest discoveries in this field to improve the level of service provided to patients.
Dr. Abdulqadir Al-Badri , a Consultant in nephrology pointed out that:” the participation of internal medicine consultants was large where they discussed a number of papers. On top of the discussed papers were the recent developments in common diseases and internal medicine. The most important event this year was conducting six workshops within the conference that followed evidence based medicine. The hall was filled with more than 180 people from inside and outside Al-Ahsa. This gives an impression of how important this conference was.”
The conference also discussed the recent developments in obesity, diabetes, hepatitis, contagious diseases, strokes, high blood pressure, chronic and sever kidney failure, anemia diseases, tuberculosis and its diagnoses and treatment, heart abnormalities and a new paper about “ How to Stay Active in Your Medical Job?” and new developments in colonitis.
In addition, a survey was conducted among the participants which showed how satisfied they were about the conference. Dr. Ahmed Alarfj pointed out that:” the preparation for next year’s conference has already begun and it was suggested that it will include four special conferences for internal medicine such as a conference for nephrology, intensive care unit, diabetes and endocrinology and the latest discoveries in digestive systems and cardio diseases”.
He added that "there is a plan for an international conference in two years from now that will discuss the new developments in internal medicine diseases, which is expected to discuss important papers and results. A number of specialists in this field from various countries of the world will participate, and we wish to continue the progress of the global conferences which we hope to move forward in providing better service for the patients, which is our main goal.”
