Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital, Dammam held an awareness exhibition on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, titled “Diabetes and Family”, with the participation of several sections, including the Department of Diabetes Education, Clinical Nutrition Section, Pharmaceutical Services, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, OBG-YN, in addition to the Nursing Department.
The Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj pointed out that, "These events are held to spread awareness of this disease, which has spread significantly in recent times, and the objective of this exhibition is to educate health practitioners about the complications of diabetes and their significance, and to explain the appropriate ways for patients to use modern insulin injections.
"Diabetes and family" highlighted and the focused on the importance of choosing healthy diets that minimizes the chance of diabetes, as well as the proper ways for people with diabetes to maintain regular medication and exercise.
The exhibition included the screening and detection of diabetes, and during the event, more than two new cases of diabetes were discovered and referred to the Diabetes Clinic to start the treatment plan developed by Family Medicine consultants. The exhibition also had a speaker who’s been living with the disease for 10 years, explaining to the importance of diet and regular exercise and taking the medications, which will ensure a stable life style.
