Activities of the 11th Annual Diabetes Educators Course were concluded on Wednesday, the 1st of April 2015 with the presence of Dr. Mansour Al Jundi, Executive Director of Medical Services, Western Region and Dr. Mansour Al Qurashi, Associate Dean of Postgraduate Education and Academic Affairs, KSAU-HS, in collaboration with KSAU-HS and a number of specialists and consultants in this field. In addition, a number of nurses in various health fields participated in this event along with several students from Oman.

The ceremony was commenced with a graduation speech delivered by Khayriah Othman, in which she extended her appreciation towards the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs  and the organizing committee, pointing out the benefits gained from such courses.

Moreover, Dr. Abdulaziz Al Twaim, Head of the Organizing Committee, delivered a speech in which he explained that the aim of this course is to give the students the necessary basic information and skills that enhance their professional experience with patients suffering from diabetes around the kingdom. He also talked about the physical and psychological suffering of diabetic patients, their families and the community pointing out that the diabetes educators plays a vital role in cutting costs in the long run.

In addition, Dr. Mansour Al Qurashi, Associate Dean of Postgraduate Education and Academic Affairs, explained that health education for diabetic patients is vital and important for living with this disease as well as being more exposed to  the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment.

After that, Executive Director of Medical Services Dr. Mansour Al Jundi added that diabetes is a chronic disease that requires an integrated healthcare by different specialists in various health fields along with the nursing staff such as dietitians, rehabilitation, nephrology, ophthalmology, and others to treat and prevent any complications that may occur as a result of the disease.

Finally, he pointed out that MNGHA made grand efforts on carrying out its humanitarian mission and effectively contributes to providing the best healthcare services while focusing on healthcare developments in all areas.

At the end, graduates were honored and certificates were distributed.
