His Excellency, Dr. Mansour Al Janadi, Executive Director of Medical Services, National Guard Health Affairs-Jeddah, Ministry of National Guard and His Excellency, Colonel Engineer Khalid Bakalka, the NGHA’s Western Region Executive Director of Operations launched the Special Needs Awareness Campaign under the slogan “Your safety is our responsibility” on December 23rd, 2013. This campaign was held and organized by King Abdulaziz Medical City – Jeddah.
The opening ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran then professor Nimat Matsief - Manager of Health Promotion Services, gave a speech in which she indicated that this day represents the most important message given by Patients Health Education Services Department at King Abdulaziz Medical City – Jeddah, which is spreading health awareness among community members in general and our brothers and sisters of special needs in particular.
After that, Dr. Khalid Abdulkhaliq, the Associate Executive Director of Medical Services and the Chairman of the Special Needs Committee gave a presentation in which he pointed out the most important achievements of King Abdulaziz Medical City’s Special Needs Committee in Jeddah that includes:

A field survey was conducted and led by the Chairman of the Committee, engineers and Committee members and from which a review of the necessary equipments for people with special needs was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the municipal services related to people with special needs.

The establishment of a Media Committee, which has designed a logo for the Special Needs Care Committee as well as developing a committee website within the Ministry of National Guard official website.

Later on, Dr. Mansour Al Janadi, Executive Director of Medical Services, National Guard Health Affairs-Jeddah gave speech in which he explained that the percentage of people with special needs is one out of every ten people , which is considered a large percentage in the community as patients, visitors or NGHA staff at King Abdulaziz Medical City – Jeddah. Therefore, our goal is to create a friendly environment for the patient , with the objective of renewing existing medical services in the western region and the places that need improvements to fit with the needs of people with special needs, organizing seminars and induction programs for all KAMC employees, visitors to spread awareness regarding people with special needs, their rights and the services provided for them, as well as developing new sets of rules and regulations, emphasizing their rights.
Soon after, Colonel Engineer Khalid Bakalka, the NGHA’s Western Region Executive Director of Operations gave a speech in which he pointed out that the safety of people with special needs is our responsibility and they are on the top of the NGHA’s priorities in terms of their awareness, community education and providing a safe environment that allows them to live everyday with ease, and to make sure appropriate new projects or projects under development are modified to fit with their needs.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that an exhibition with the participation of the relevant authorities will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday 24th and the 25th of December 2013 in the main entrance of the Outpatient Clinics Center at King Abdulaziz Medical City- Jeddah.
