The department of Disaster and Emergency Management at National Guard Health Affairs Jeddah carried out a disaster scenario to drill its staff on dealing with disasters and crises. Participating in the drill were all medical and administrative related departments and the military police.
The drill’s scenario was of two buses exploding resulting in over 75 casualties. The response was prompt, where as rescue and paramedic teams reached to the location and noted injuries ranging from moderate to critical.
Dr. Mansour Al Janadi, Executive Director of Medical Services, National Guard Health Affairs-Jeddah, Ministry of National Guard, explained that the importance of such drills is raising the level of self response and how to be prepared for disasters and crises. The analysis of the drill response is imperative so that in the future mistakes can be avoided in all stages of implementation.
