On behalf of HRH Prince Mitib bin Abdullah, Deputy Commander of National Guard for Executive Affairs His Highness Prince Dr. Khalid bin Faisal bin Turki, the Undersecretary of the National Guard in the Western Region launched the first International Conference in Disaster and Mass Gathering.
This International Conference was Organized by the National Guard Health Affairs represented by the Emergency Department - King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah and was held in Jeddah Westin Hotel.
The conference will last for three days and 16 sessions among many scientific activities and nearly 23 papers will be represented for scholars and experts from within and outside the Kingdom to unite the efforts in order to reach better levels of health care services.
Dr. Ahmed Alrabgi, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee gave a speech in which he explained that emergency medicine has become a stand-alone medical approach like any other specialty such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology. However, this specialization is characterized by the time factor in detection, assessment, and diagnosis and sickness treatment.
Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, the CEO of National Guard Health Affairs and the President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences gave a speech in which he explained that the National Guard Health Affairs has focused on the national program of emergency medicine and supervise the emerge of emergency medicine for both adults and pediatrics. The National Guard Health Affairs will also adopt the idea of establishing an Emergency Association; achieve Saudization in this vital area plus the Saudi Fellowship Program in Emergency, where 18 medical doctors are in this program at present.
Finally, the event sponsor gave a speech in which he said that since the establishment of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz Al-Saud until this day, the country has given its citizens a great importance in all development areas, and stressed that the health services sector is among the priorities in health development plans.
