It’s with great with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Adel Al-Othman, Consultant of Infectious Diseases and Deputy Head of the Internal Medicine Department for Quality and Patient Safety, who passed away after a heart attack, may Allah in his mercy grant him rest.
Curriculum vitae of Dr. Adel Fahad Al-Othman
Dr. Adel Al-Othman graduated from the College of Medicine in 1989. After finishing his concession year, he joined the Department of Internal Medicine in King Fahad City- National Guard in 1990, then then he got a scholarship in Canada in 1992 to be specialized in the field of internal medicine (general specialization) and infectious diseases (specific specialization). He obtained Canadian Fellowship in Internal Medicine in 1996 and Canadian Fellowship in Infectious Diseases in 1998. Then, he returned to join as a consultant in the Department of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at King Abdulaziz Medical City - National Guard in Riyadh in 1998 until his death( may Allah have mercy on him).
Moreover, Dr Adel (may Allah have mercy on him) held several positions, the most important of which are:
Vice President of the Internal Medicine Department for Quality and Patient Safety since 2017.
Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases from 2007-2019.
Associate Professor, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences since 2010.
Chairman of the Conference on Infectious Diseases of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the years 2018-2019.
Vice President of Infectious Diseases Conference for the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries 2016-2017.
Head of the training program from 2008-2018, Department of Infectious Diseases, King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard in Riyadh. He has contributed to the development of training in it so that it has become one of the best training centers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a desirable for many trainees from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
He is a member of several local, regional and international committees and societies, including:
Royal Canadian College of Physicians, Canadian Society of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, American Society for Infectious Diseases, European Society for Infectious Diseases, American Society for Medicinal Epidemiology. He is a member of many Saudi societies and committees in the field of infectious diseases, and he is distinguished in the field of AIDS control, infectious diseases of the weak immune, hospital infection and antibiotics, and medical and clinical scientific research. He is also a member of several charities such as the Manna Charity Association.
