The Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, represented by the Drug Policy and Economic Center (DPEC), is hosting the 1st Saudi International Conference on Pharmaceutical Policy, Economics & Outcomes, in collaboration with King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS). The conference will be held from the 20th till the 22nd of October 2014 in the KSAU-HS Convention Center - Riyadh.
This conference was organized mainly to benefit from the international experience in pharmaceutical policy and economic evaluation for reducing pharmaceutical and health care cost while improving health outcomes.
Furthermore, it seeks to Describe the importance of National Pharmacoeconomics/ Submission Guidelines in improving pharmaceutical reimbursement decision-making process by health care sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, introduce the concepts of performance based/ outcomes based risk sharing agreements between healthcare institutions and pharmaceutical companies and its role in improving access to innovative pharmaceuticals and reducing the risk and cost to healthcare institutions and discuss the latest development in value based pricing of pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, the conference will introduce US Managed Care System and Pharmacy Benefit Management as well as exploring and utilizing Managed Care System and Pharmacy Benefit Management strategies aimed at managing escalating healthcare cost while improving healthcare outcomes in the Saudi healthcare system.
The conference topics will be addressed with the participation of a team of international speakers and specialists such as Professor Michael Drummond from York University, UK, the former president of the InternationalSociety for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, and Dr. Sean Sullivan, Professor and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy, USA, and Dr. J. Lyle Bootman, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, the University of Arizona, USA and founding Arizona Center for Health Outcomes and PharmacoEconomic (HOPE) Research.
