Dr. Waleed Al-Omair - urinary tract endoscopy consultant at King Abdulaziz Hospital – Al Ahsa succeed in the early detecting of a patient’s prostate cancer, reducing the cancer’s rapid growth and ultimately saving the patient’s life.
Dr. Al-Omair said: "The patient was suffering from urine problems, after conducting clinical examination and laboratory tests; we found high levels of prostate enzyme. A sample then was taken and the patient was diagnosed with prostate tumor then was referred to radiation therapy."
Early detection of prostate tumors greatly helps in treating and reducing its growth, while late detection leads to death. Prostate tumors can be detected through clinical examination or checking the prostate hormone levels. This type of cancer often affects males at the age of 50 or older and rarely affects those under 50, and this is why patients are advised to do these tests every year.
