Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs(MNG-HA) represented by Primary Health Care Center/Al-Ahsa participated in the activities organized by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control in the Ministry of National Guard in Al-Ahsa through an awareness-raising section on smoking effects. The Regional Executive Director of MNG-HA in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj said ” This participation comes from the premise of our duty towards our society through awareness on this deadly scourge”.
He also added " Visitors of Primary Care section including school students were examined to ensure that they do not smoke whereas smokers have been referred to the smoking- cessation clinic in the center, which plays a major role in helping them quit this deadly habit".
Moreover, the participants were briefed on the smoking dangers on the smoker’s health and on public health in general especially that it has been increasingly spread among school students.
In addition to awareness on smoking dangers, visitors’ blood pressure and sugar were checked, and those who suffer from these diseases were referred to follow-up in specialized clinics, as well as awareness lectures were presented about the drugs dangers, abuse and their impact on health which can lead to death.
Last but not least, Narcotics Control Division/ Ministry of National Guard in Al-Ahsa organized the event with the participation of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Direction and Guidance in the Ministry of National Guard and MNG-HA under the theme of “Based on the Importance of Preventive Awareness Programs for the Community in General and the Educational Community in Particular”.
