Under the attention of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, an Egyptian conjoined twins were admitted at King Abdulaziz Medical City. The twins will undergo a separation operation under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah.
The twins (Mahmoud and Hassan) arrived at National Guard Health Affairs on Tuesday. Upon their arrival to Riyadh, Dr. Bandar Al Knway was there to receive them and escort them personally to the pediatric ward at the medical city. They will undergo a series of medical tests and workups prior to surgery.
"It would take a few weeks to complete the medical tests to ascertain the viability of the surgery," said Dr. Al Knway, explaining that they don't know to which extent the twin are joined.
The last conjoined twin separation at NGHA was done last year on October 25th for the Iraqi twins: Eyad and Zeyad. The operation was carried out by Dr. Al Rabeeah the CEO of NGHA. Furthermore, the first conjoined twin separation in the Kingdom was in the year 1990 which was also performed by Dr. Al Rabeeah.
