The Fall Prevention Program Committee in King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al Ahsa organized a fall prevention awareness campaign with the participation of a large audience of patients, patients and staff, who were briefed on the services presented by the departments about the risk of falls and ways to prevent it.
Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj, the Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region pointed out that: "This activity comes to raise awareness of the risk of falling, which can cause significant results and damage, as statistics indicate that every 20 minutes, one person falls, and out of four people, one fall at least one year, which is a dangerous indicator that requires society awareness".
He further explained that: "fall Injuries affects the head, spine, limbs and pelvis, and treatment is very expensive, but prevention is easier, so be aware of the importance of taking caution. Causes include the surrounding environment which is non-compliant with safety standards, such as homes with poor lighting, slippery floors and electricity installations and others”.
The event focused on an awareness exhibition in which several departments participated, including the Department of Nursing, Health Education, Pharmacy, Pediatrics Intensive Care, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Physiotherapy and others.
