The Family Safety Day morning seminar “ Family role in the renunciation of violence and terrorism” which will be held on Wednesday, the 18th of November 2015 will cover a series of activities. Member of the Human Rights Council, Jurisprudence Professor at Judiciary Higher Institution, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Fozan will present a lecture covering the importance of the family role in the nurturing and development of individuals and communities, along with its role in renouncing violence and terrorism. Moreover,
Director of Mohammed Bin Naif Counseling and Care Center, Major General Dr. Nasser Al-Mutairi will present a scientific paper entitled “ Domestic violence and terrorism”, in addition to a screening of a documentary film about the National Family Safety Program and its mission in the Saudi society.
This seminar will be held as a part of a series of activities coinciding with the 10 anniversary of the establishment of the National Family Safety Program, an initiative taken by the Ministry of National Guard and as a part of the Family Safety Day that will last for 5 consecutive days in King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences – Convention Center in Riyadh. Starting from the first day of the event , a series of debates and lectures will commence covering scientific papers that will review scientific studies and national experiences related to the relationship between domestic violence and terrorism. Experts will explain the family role in addressing violence and extremism to confront such behavior and offer a comprehensive study on all legitimacy, security and social levels. The symposium will also include youth initiatives to explore suggestions and ideas about the programs and projects that are compatible with the way young adults think, to face any domestic violence, which in turn might lead to intellectual deviation that leads to terrorism.
It’s worth noting that the Supreme Committee of the Family Safety Day was formed to include the Ministry of National Guard (Organizers) the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Presidency for Youth Welfare, and the Human Rights Commission, where all participants will contribute in the implementation of educational programs, prevention campaigns through media, audio-visual presentations, electronic and social media channels. In addition, Workshops targeting social workers and social protection services will be held along with lectures targeting the general public Kingdome wide. Such campaign will also extend to reach Saudi residents outside the Kingdom through the Kingdom’s embassies and cultural bureaus abroad.
