Health Education Department in Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital – Dammam Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs launched Hand Hygiene activities for the third year. According to the organizing committee, this activities that targeted employees, patients and school students was aiming to raise awareness about Hand Hygiene considering hands as the key to diseases and infection. The Regional Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj explained that: It is our responsibility to raise the society awareness through events and activities such as “Hand Hygiene”. Many people do not have any idea about how hands contribute in the transmission of infectious germs and diseases. He added: we received great acceptance towards the activities which shows how people are interacting with such events.
Dr. Soha Saleh, Head of Health Education Department presented an educational lecture about the right methods to clean hands. she said that: “Clean hands is an important issue to avoid diseases which is the reason behind repeating the event for three years in a row”. She added: “we held a corner to introduce the types of microbes, bacteria and viruses that may found in the hands”.
This activities were held in four schools of the Ministry of National Guard aiming to raise the level of awareness among students regarding hand hygiene. During this event, students learn how to clean their hands, introduced to medical cleaners, sterilizers and how important to use them. They also learn about the transmission of diseases, viruses and microbes by wrong daily practices, and learn how to prevent it.
