With the participation of H.E. Dr. Saad Al Mehrij, Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, “Health Ambassador Program” has concluded its activities today, on April 28th , 2016. The event was organized by the MNG-HA, Western Region, and represented by Community and Preventive Medicine, held in the Officers' Club in King Fahad Residential City, in which sixty participants were trained on a daily basis over three days in all branches of the program.
Deputy Executive Director of Medical Services, Primary Health Care, WR – Dr. Fadhil Kamal stated that the Health Ambassador Program aims to activate the engagement of the public to become health ambassadors in our community. He also added that this training program is designed to prepare these ambassadors to be the "willpower" within the community, which will help in pushing the development wheel and promoting the right and healthy concepts and behaviors in a positive and good way.
In addition, Dr. Fadhil pointed out that this program is a comprehensive and an effective model which involves active community members who are interested in participating in the treatment and prevention of such common health problems in our community, it is also a universal model which proved its success in different parts of the world. In addition, he pointed out that MNG-HA represented by Community and Preventive Medicine - Jeddah is a pioneer in organizing such program in the MENA Region according to international standards.
Dr. Fadhil also said that as what has been achieved in the previous program’s sessions, the current program included the training and rehabilitation of nearly 300 ambitious participants from all segments of both civil and military members on the interactive training sections for Health Ambassador Program, namely:
Provide important health information for the health ambassadors, so they can convey their knowledge to their family members, friends and others who communicate with them in the society.
Conduct individual medical tests for the participants to assess the possibility of having any common chronic diseases in the community, such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and inform them with the results.
Give a broader perspective to the essential and safety-related health issues regarding its relation to their personal lives.
Hands-on training on (CPR) in order to serve the community from any emergency cases.
Hands-on training on fire safety and first aid means.
Hands-on training on healthy cooking and lifestyle.
Focus on the importance of maintaining good oral health and clarifying its relation to the public health.
Provide participants with important information regarding the available resources and health services in their community.
Moreover, It is worth to mention that Her Royal Highness Princess, Dr. Reem bint Mansour bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, U.N Goodwill Ambassador, H.E. the Deputy Undersecretary of the National Guard Military Affairs, Major General, Manea bin Omar Abaalolaa, H.E. General Director of Public Health in Qatar Country, Dr. Mohammad bin Hamad Althani, H.E. Executive Director of International Medical Center, Dr. Waleed Fetehi will be honored today.
Last but not least, the participants who passed the program will be honored with the medal of Health Ambassador as an appreciation for their efforts and commitment to raise the health standard and change negative behaviors in our society.
