Hospitals' Infection Prevention Conference

The Infection Control & Prevention Department held the "Hospital Infection Prevention Conference" at Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital in Dammam, with the participation of More than 160 participants including doctors and specialists from both overnment and private hospitals. The Regional Executive Director of National Guard Health Affairs - the Eastern Region Dr. Ahmed Al Arfaj stated that: "the conference included a number of scientific lectures on the latest development of controlling hospital's infection, and a lecture about the Koruna virus presented by Dr. Jafar Al Tawfieq."      

 

Moreover, during the conference, numerous scientific papers were presented and a lecture was given by the Executive Director of the Infection Control Program at the NGHA Hospitals, Dr Hanan Balkhy.  These scientific papers discussed various subjects including: Chemotherapy-induced Diarrhea (CID), central venous catheter-associated bloodstream infections, Catheter-associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Ventilator-Associated Lung Infections (or Respiratory infection), Surgical site infection, Acinetobacter, Ways of further reducing the use of antibiotics, and the importance of reporting hospital infections to the Ministry of Health, and their future plans in infection prevention.

 

This conference was accredited with 13 CME hours form the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
