​97% success rate plus 29 training programs

Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, holds todat, the 30th of March 2017, the 17th Residency Day, a ceremony honoring the resident doctors in KSAU-HS - Jeddah, with the presence of the university’s deans and academic staff along with the MNG-HA’s health officials in the western region. The honoring ceremony recognizes these competencies, that determines the quality of health care provided in any healthcare establishment that seeks excellence, it also emphasizes that the resident physicians are the fundamentals in any health facility.

Moreover, the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Education, KSAU-HS,  Dr. Yasser Fadin, stated that: “392 male and female doctors, 50 out of 53 doctors passed the Saudi Board, an equivalent to 94%, 24 sub-specialties have been added, in addition to increasing the number of training programs to 29”.

Additionally, He pointed out that all the medical specialties in King Abdul Aziz Medical City – MNG-HA – Jeddah are recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and that the Higher Medical Education Department embraces all the different medical specialties that qualify for the Saudi Board and the Saudi Fellowship, and that the Medical Education Department  Medical, through its objectives, seeks to achieve several goals, including:

Pursuing to develop medical education and the skills of academic and clinical trainees.

Ensuring that the MNG-HA continues to be a distinguished healthcare organization by working on developing the skills of their doctors (trainers / trainees) to become one of the best medical and health training centers.

Working to fill the gap of vacant medical posts by highly qualified Saudi doctors, the graduates of  the training programs and the sub-specialty programs.

Ensuring the optimal environment for the resident doctors and the specialists by providing them with opportunities and training courses which have an effective and a fundamental role in their clinical, academic and research development.

Adhering to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada training programs for the residents and the fellows.

Additionally, Dr. Faden stressed that the resident doctor is the main pillar of any hospital,  and prepping him/her by various educational and clinical methods will result in creating competent generations that are able to serve the country in the medical field with national cadres that benefit our beloved country. These years are the platform from which their successful paths will be determined. Such platform should be based on practicality and professionalism.

He also pointed out that : “today, we are celebrating the graduation of a constellation of doctors in various disciplines, and this ceremony shall be an occasion to celebrate all their achievements and success. It is also a big day for the Deanship of Postgraduate Education to review and highlight its achievements in the previous years in order to plan further into the future  to overcome the current challenges facing the postgraduate education.
