Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Al Madinah AlMunawarah celebrated the “World Health Day 2015” which came this year under the slogan "From the farm to the plate”  which highlighted safe food leads to healthy lives. Public Relations and Media Affairs department in PMBAH in collaboration with Clinical Nutrition, Nursing Education and Food Services departments held a number of educational activities which targeted patients, visitors and staff.

Moreover, the educational activities included an awareness exhibition which was located at the main entrance of the hospital and contained a variety of audio, visual and printed scientific educational materials. Clinical Nutrition, Nursing Education departments presented an interactive explanation on how to maintain food safety through the stages of moving, storing and cooking different types of food. Also, the educational activities included an awareness movie broadcasted on different TVs around the hospital which covered the methods and standards of handling food in homes and organizations, the movie was made and presented by the Food Services Department and it was filmed by the Public Relations & Media Affairs department.

Moreover, the celebration activities was concluded by an educational lecture held in the Multipurpose Room and it was about the preventive ways against food poisoning presented by the manager of Clinical Nutrition Department, Nutritionist Dr. Ata Al Rahman who stated that the most important measures to be taken against food poisoning which begins by washing hands with soap and warm water before and after dealing with raw food like meat, fish, egg and vegetable and of course before eating. Dr. Ata also pointed out that hygiene in general is the main key in preventing food poisoning, he also highlighted the importance of properly preserving food in the refrigerator at a temperature lower than 5 degrees Celsius where the proliferation of germs stops, however, during the cooking process, make sure that the food must reach the boiling temperature.

Lastly. the celebration was attended by a number of visitors and staff led by the manager of Public Relations and Media Affairs Department Mr. Anas Jan and Chief of Food Services Department Mr. Musaad Al Mutiri.
