On Monday 20th of October, among one of its social responsibility programs, Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Madinah welcomed a number of medical students and academic staff from Taibah University.

The tour started in the Respiratory Therapy Department where the students had the opportunity to recognize the most recent medical equipment and global techniques that is being used in Respiratory Therapy. Then, the students went on a practical tour which included the ICU and wards. They were introduced to the stages of respiratory therapy in PMBAH which apply the most recent international standards. In ICU, students learned the approaches of applying respiratory therapy for emergency cases while in the wards they learned how to apply respiratory therapy for stable and long term cases.

Moreover, Mr. Za’am Al Otibi, manager of Respiratory Therapy Department in PMBAH gave a lecture about respiratory therapy methodology in medical care facilities where he explained for students the difference between respiratory therapy medicine and other types of medicine in a technical and administrative way, emphasizing on the bright future of respiratory therapy in the Saudi health market. He complemented that Taibah University is the first university in the Western Region to offer medical students a respiratory therapy specialization. After that, Mr. Al Otibi allocated some time for the students’ questions and for an open discussion.

Concluding the visit, Mr. Anas Jan, PRMA Manger, presented the students and academic professors with gifts on behalf of PMBAH hospital. The students in return expressed their appreciation for the fulfilling opportunity.
