The medical imaging department in KAMC-JED organized an event that marked the 7th the seventh International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2018) which aimed this year to create awareness of the benefits of radiology that enhance patient care in many aspects including diagnosis, treatment and safety. In addition, the event presented a holistic understanding of roles of radiologists and radiological technologies played in the healthcare field.
The theme this year was centered on cardiac imaging where the role of imaging specialists is considered a vital in detection, diagnosis and management of heart diseases. The advancement of diagnostic radiology in cardiac imaging results in great impact on heart patient’s care. The wide benefits can be witnessed through the outcome of deployed technology such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Head of organizing committee, Dr. Shaza Alsharif stated that the event was organized for the fourth time in KAMC-JED, following the progress that has been made in radiological specialty in NGHA, which turns to be pioneering in radiology among healthcare providers in KSA. She added that almost 110.000 patients have been given radiological services since last year, and that include several subspecialties of diagnostic radiology and cardiac imaging has been the top of them.
