Under sponsorship of HRH Princess Adlah bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy President of the National Family Safety Program and under the presence of HE Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, the Chief Executive Officer, National Guard Health Affairs President, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and General Supervisor, Royal Clinics and General Supervisor of National Family Safety Program, the National Family Safety Program will launch an Infant Head Injuries awareness campaign on Tuesday 03/01/2012 at D. Samir Bin Harib Hall- King Abdulaziz Medical City, NGHA - Riyadh.
Dr. Maha Al Muneef - Executive Director of the National Family Safety Program mentioned that this campaign will be implemented in two phases:
- Phase 1: Includes rehabilitation of 30 nurses, health educators and a social workers to educate mothers about the mechanism of dealing with crying infants, Shaken Baby Syndrome and risks of brain and head injuries among infants.
- Phase 2: For mothers of infants less than one year old, and it will last for 6 months in order to educate 6000 mothers through several individual educational sessions.
It’s worth mentioning that the campaign project was one of the winning projects of King Khalid Charitable Foundation competition to support development projects. NGHA also contributes through supporting and developing this pioneering project through the National Family Safety Program which will seek with all health sectors implementing this campaign in all the hospitals in different regions of the Kingdom.
